Dear Disciple,
Today’s OT text (Exodus 12-13) is about the seminal Exodus event for Israel, featuring the Passover meal. In Matthew 12, Jesus warns his disciples about the “yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees” – meaning their teaching. I think it also includes their attitudes (trying to trap Jesus) and hypocrisy. There is, of course, much more in these texts, but let’s focus on this for today.
What is God’s Word saying to me?
There is a word of warning (law) about our attitude, especially one that is condescending, presenting a false front.
What am I going to do about it?
Because of and by God’s grace, may my heart by guarded against such self-serving pride and, rather, be honest and genuinely caring when engaging with others. This may be especially needed with others come at me with pretense.
May the Lord guard and guide our hearts and words this day.
In Christ,
Pastor Todd
