Abiding in God's Word

Daily Abiding – Feb 1, 2012

Dear Disciple,

In today’s texts, Exodus 27-28 describe the making of worship elements, including great detail about priestly garments. I was particularly struck with the names of the tribes of Israel being part of the priestly clothing of Aaron. in Matthew 21:1-22, Jesus enters Jerusalem to great cheers and has a physical and verbal skirmishes in the temple. Something new I picked up is recorded in Mt 21:14-15, The blind and the lame came to him at the temple, and he healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the teachers of the law saw the wonderful things he did and the children shouting in the temple courts, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they were indignant.

What is God’s Word saying to me?
Jesus Christ is now the One Who carries my name over his heart. He is my High Priest, Who is the once-for-all-time sacrifice. I don’t deserve it, but gladly receive it!

What am I going to do about it?
Approach today with an intention of gratitude. A friend of mine emailed me earlier this week about learning she was doing on forgiveness and gratitude – not only forgiving someone but offering prayers of gratitude for that person. Christ Jesus more than forgive us (which is completely astounding in itself!); he loves us! He loves you! Jesus heals, Jesus hears, Jesus cares. And I’m overwhelmed…
